Blueberry Picking

Yes, that is a bird's nest in the first photo. The parents were no where to be found, but the owners of the farm said that the large brown birds return in the evening when blueberry pickers are not around. The eggs were probably about one inch long and speckled brown. I'll do some research later to see if I can find out what they may be. Let me know if you know what they are! I think they may be brown cowbird eggs or the eggs of a large type of sparrow?

It was a cool, breezy morning, and we were there early at 7:00 am and joined by friends. By the time we left, the sun was warming things up. We picked almost 2 gallons-- one to freeze and eat like popcorn and one for making jam.

Jen, we went to Locust Grove Berry Farm out in West Jackson on County Line Road. It takes about 15-20 minutes from my house. Easy picking!
