I love walking, and I love walking my dog. I love that summer gives us more time to walk and stroll around the neighborhood. This morning, my daughter and I took a walk together.
Today, my daughter walked towards her first spend-the-night camp away from us for five days. She has been looking forward to it for weeks and all week. Until today. She started getting a little nervous about leaving us. In the end, though, she was fine when we left her. I'm sure she's walking around with some other girls now-- towards the pool or towards the dining hall.
Walking together and walking away in one day. . . as my children get older, the walking away will become more and more frequent. Today, I felt foreshadowings of leaving her at college. I hope she'll always want to walk with me from time to time even as she walks away.

This one almost made me cry. You really have a way with words. You made me picture the same thing with J.
Perhaps she and a good friend will sing together in a camp talent show!
Yes, Angela, I remember those days! "We're Gonna' Make it!"
